Session 1: San Xurxo
Got up early and went out on bigger kit than what I had bought out with me (James' board and Adam's sail) since wind was onshore and not that strong, and the shorebreak was looking munchy again. Thought I would have trouble getting out again - shorebreak looked very intimidating again - but to my surprise made it through the break pretty much first time. Wind was up and down on the outside, but got planing a couple of times. Then dropped a gybe on the inside, couldn't waterstart cos wind had dropped off. Looked up and Oh S*** I was much further downwind than I thought and was getting washed towards the rocks. Panicking slightly, took some proper poundings from the white water but hung onto my kit for dear life. To my relief though I soon felt sand with my feet so then knew I would be OK. Martin had seen me in trouble and came rushing out to help, but all was pretty much OK by then. Got out fine, nothing broken, but was a bit shaken up.

Session 2: San Xurxo
After an hour or so break to get my nerves back, went out again. Wind was even more onshore now, impossible to get out back, could only plane back and forth short runs on the inside of the break. So we decided to go to Valdovinho where it would be more cross-shore.

Session 3: Valdovinho
Shore break at Valdovinho was looking HUGE. No way we could get out through that. Looking upwind though we could see a windsurfer out - must have launched from further up the beach. Drove out and found the car park at the far western end of the beach, close to the headland. Much better - shorebreak was looking a lot more manageable and some nice small waves, wind a little bit less than at Valdovinho but still OK. Adam, Martin and James had a great session well powered up on 5.0-5.2's, but being 10kg's bigger than them I was a fraction underpowered. Spent most of the session getting pounded by the shorebreak again and drifting downwind, but had a couple of good runs and wave-rides. First time riding waves port tack felt very wierd....!
